Our Take

UnitedHealthcare is a AA- rated carrier by S&P and an A rated company by A.M. Best. Given their recent implementation of stricter underwriting guidelines, we expect their rates to improve in terms of stability. They have the added perk of an AARP membership ($24 per year) and the benefits that come along with it. We enjoy working with UnitedHealthcare and feel confident in offering them as a secondary to Medicare.

Over 100 million Americans currently have a health insurance plan through UnitedHealthcare as they are the industry leader in market share. UnitedHealthcare specializes in Medicare Supplements and provides plans in most states with seven different Medicare Supplemental plan options.  Medicare Supplement Coverages are also referred to as simply Medigap Coverage, they mean the same thing. Simply put, these additional plans can provide seniors with coverages that original Medicare does not cover, and at an affordable rate.

UnitedHealthcare Medigap Plan Options- F, G, & N

There are many Parts or Plans of Medicap coverages, but UnitedHealthcare offers the most popular and beneficial including Medigap Plan F, Medigap Plan G, Medigap Plan N, and Medigap Plan C which is also referred to as Medicare Advantage. Here are the main differences to help you better select the right option for you.

UnitedHealthcare Medicare Supplement Plan F

Over half of all seniors enrolled in Medigap coverage are in Medicare Plan F, making it the most popular option. Medicare Plan F is known for providing the most benefits and the most coverage for 2019. This plan leaves you with nothing out of pocket as it covers all Medicare deductibles, all copays, and all coinsurance at 100%. Medigap Plan F is for those who value piece of mind that no surprise doctor bills will arrive in their mailbox.

UnitedHealthcare Medicare Supplement Plan G

Medigap Plan G coverage is the second most popular options for seniors. Plan G offers very good coverage with lower premiums than that of Plan F. The only difference between the two is that Plan G does not pay for Medicare Part B deductible, as Plan F does.  Part G offers significant saving options for seniors and our dedicated or friendly team is standing by to calculate if Plan G or Plan F is the most cost effective and beneficial for you.

UnitedHealthcare Medicare Supplement Plan N

Medigap Plan N coverage is best suited for those who are willing to have a lower premium with slightly less coverage. Medigap Plan N does not cover Medicare Part B deductible and does not cover Medicare Part B Excess Charges. If you envision these two parts to be a non-issue or a small amount then Plan N is a great cost saving option due to even lower premiums than those of Plan F or Plan G.

Medigap Plan N includes all regular doctoral visits including but not limited to diabetes supplies, tests, surgeries, procedures, home health visits, and many more. It is important to note that while on this Plan it is important to ask your provider if they accept Medicare assignment.  If they do not, then you do run the risk of a 15% excess charge.
